Search Engine Marketing

A counterpart to SEO, which refers to using keywords to convince search engines into thinking you're authoritative on a given topic and deserve to be listed highly in its organic search results, SEM refers to paying search engines to put you next to sites it thinks it is authoritative on a given topic. It is a form of paid, online advertising.
