See What I Mean? -or- Someone Who Isn't Me

(pronounced as a new word: swim)

An acronym used primarily in texting, online chat, instant messaging, e-mail, blogs, and newsgroup postings, it is also considered a form of online jargon or text message shorthand

When referring to "Someone Who Isn't Me" it is used across online forums as a way to describe potentially illegal activities without self-incrimination. Everyone knows that "SWIM" is actually the person using the word "SWIM", but many believe it still provides a basic level of plausible deniability. Some forums that are dedicated entirely to subversive content will require all posters to abide entirely by use of the word "SWIM" so as not to incriminate the site.
