a.k.a. functional capability

The way something works or operates, or online, what purpose it serves.

For example, a Web site that allows people to purchase an item online has a distinct functionality from one that simply lets users post and read other people's information. Functionality means the same as "function," but for whatever reason, it is referred to in the industry as the "functionality" of something.
