This is a string of characters in HTML code that is used to force a blank space on a Web page. You usually don't see this code unless you do a "view source" on your browser and look at the source code. The code is often sent in HTML e-mail messages, but if your e-mail program does not support HTML, you end up seeing this code instead of the intended blank space.
