This particular industry includes software companies, hardware companies, networking companies, content companies, ISPs, OSPs, online advertising agencies, dot-com businesses, venture capital firms, technical recruiting agencies, new media consultants, high-tech journalists, telecommunication companies, fiber-optics manufacturers, voice recognition developers, e-mail marketing companies, and thousands of businesses that capitalize on a high-speed network known as the Internet. These businesses are located all over the world, with a heavy concentration in the new economy hotspots. Many are listed on the Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange.
