A graphics software program created by Adobe. Photoshop is a powerful image-viewing, editing, and graphical conversion program that supports many image formats and contains a variety of drawing and painting tools. Known as a professional image editing or "paint" program, it has become the standard by which all other image editing programs are measured. Photoshop is primarily used for image retouching, scanning, color correction, photo-compositing (combining multiple images) and resizing images. It is also used to create images for print and video, and it works with layer-based graphics, meaning the images can be layered on top of one another (like the ingredients in a sandwich). This allows Web designers and reprographic artists to make changes to the image at any time.
