NWAL

Nerd Without A Life

(pronounced: know-all)

With the advent of the personal computer, the success of Bill Gates, and the widespread proliferation of blogging, nerds have gone mainstream. For example, blogging was once the province of the Nerd Without a Life (NWAL -- which, when pronounced aloud, sounds remarkably and appropriately like know-all).

An acronym used in texting, online chat, instant messaging, e-mail, blogs, and newsgroup postings, it is also considered a form of online jargon or text message shorthand.
