ac or .ac
One of several top-level domains assigned to URLs that are of an academic nature, generally for countries outside the U.S. (as opposed to .edu, which is primarily for academic Web sites within the U.S.). For example, www.lse.ac.uk is the URL for The London School of Economics, in England. There is also .co, .com, .mil, .gov, .net, .org, and a long list of country code top-level domains.
