quiet quitting

Quiet quitting means not taking your job too seriously and balancing your time with the things you do outside of the office.

According to quiet quitters, it isn’t about getting off the company payroll, but rather not going above and beyond your job responsibilities and just doing what is needed or required for your job. Considered a rebellion against the "rise and grind" ethos the approach is "to work to live, instead of live to work."

Historical perspective: Quiet quitting generated millions of views on social media in 2022 as some young professionals began to reject the idea of going above and beyond in their careers, labeling their lesser enthusiasm a form of “quitting.”
