neocloud

A neocloud is a specialized, AI cloud service provider that rents out high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs) and bare-metal infrastructure specifically for artificial intelligence training and use.

Unlike traditional hyperscalers (such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud) which offer hundreds of general-purpose IT servicesn (like databases, identity management, and web hosting), neoclouds focus exclusively on raw compute speed and massive GPU clustering.

Neoclouds utilize high-speed low-latency interconnects to allow hundreds or thousands of GPUs to communicate near-instantly, which is critical for training large language models (LLMs). Many neocloud operators originally started in cryptocurrency before pivoting their heavy-duty hardware infrastructure toward AI when demand surged.

Neocloud companies are those which sell computing power and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).

Historical perspective: In 2026, echoes of the 2008 bust were quietly building because to keeping the AI boom going is a loosely regulated private credit industry that has hidden large amounts of debt. In August 2026, The Wall Street Journal reported that the nine largest tech firms, including Nvidia and Meta, have purchase commitments and other obligations totaling more than $3 trillion that are off their balance sheets. That’s roughly 10% “of the entire U.S. economy. AI firms and suppliers are also buying and selling the technology and its infrastructure to one another, making demand for those loans look greater than it actually was. And as the collapse of Lehman Bros. revealed in 2008, a problem anywhere can soon become a problem everywhere.
