ghost job

a.k.a. phantom posting

Ghost jobs refers to job advertisements you may see online but they don't really exist. It refers to the practice of employers advertising for vacancies that aren't available or they have no immediate intention of filling.

Historical perspective: As of 2026, phantom postings were running rampant. Why do companies do this!? Employers do this because they are either collecting resumes for future roles, projecting an artificial image of growth, measuring current market salary expectations, or appeasing overworked staff. Either way it is unethical, there ought to be a law. Film at 11
