digital strip search

The act of being forced to unlock your digital device with your password,  biometric data such as a fingerprint, or encryption key.

Historical perspective: It's known as a "strip search" because in October 2018, New Zealand law went into effect forcing foreign visitors and New Zealand citizens arriving at the airports to relinquish their cell phone passwords or pay a NZ$5,000 ($3,000) fine.
