geocaching

A term that refers to a high-tech treasure hunt involving Web sites and a GPS gadget which leads "geocachers" or explorers to find hidden "caches" of treasure. It is an activity that is gaining popularity especially among kids and adults who enjoy the thrill of the hunt. The prizes (usually stored in plastic containers) are often nothing more than a few inexpensive plastic trinkets. Geocachers say it is the process of the journey and the excitement of the find that makes this activity so rewarding.
