digital video recorder




a.k.a. DVR, PVR

A stand alone piece of equipment used to record and save television prgrams on hard disks inside cable and satellite receivers. Primarily known as a "DVR" it is also called a "PVR" (personal video recorder), and TiVo (which is actually the best-known brand of digital video recorders).
