dedicated hosting

A service provided by a hosting company to businesses that wish to have their Web site on a stand-alone or "dedicated" computer. It can be costly, and therefore is usually only utilized by large companies that have a lot of traffic on their Web sites and an in-house technology team that provides 24/7 monitoring. The primary benefit of dedicated hosting is that you have root access to the machine and can literally turn it off or make any changes at any time.
