With the growing trend of consumers shopping and making purchases online, also comes the concern of using bank cards online in fear of cyberfraud. One solution is to offer a checking account that comes with a "virtual debit card". This basically consists of a piece of paper with an account number, expiration date and verification code for making purchases online, over the phone or by mail order.
The one drawback to using a virtual debit card, are instances where a credit card must be shown upon receipt of the purchased product. For example, when an airline ticket is purchased online, often times the credit card that was used in the purchase must be shown when the tickets are picked up.
