tech neck

a.k.a. text neck

What is tech neck? The soreness in one's neck from using a smartphone or cell phone for an extended period of time, or sitting in front of a laptop or computer typing all day. Similar to smartphone thumb and mouse hand, there are specialized massages now available to treat high-tech aches and pains.

Historical perspective: The term “text neck” was coined by American chiropractor DL Fishman, who described the condition as repeated stress injuries and pain in the neck resulting from excessive watching or texting on handheld devices over a sustained period of time.
