SIG

Special Interest Group

(pronounced: sig)

A group of people who share a common interest and meet or exchange e-mail messages on a particular topic, in an organized way. SIGs are also widely known as "SIG groups" (although that's redundant).

Note that a SIG is not to be confused with a sigfile.
