Secure Digital Music Initiative
Founded in 1998, it is an organization trying to create a standard for copyright protection within the music industry. The aim of the SDMI is to develop open technology specifications that protect the playback, storage, and distribution of digital music so that a new market for digital music may emerge. DMAT is the trademark for products that are compliant with SDMI specifications.
