(pronounced: nick)

a.k.a. "Network Interface Card"

As a Networked Information Center, it is an office that handles information for a network (such as InterNIC, a well-known organization where new domain name are registered). As a Network Interface Card, it is a printed circuit board (such as an expansion card) that you insert into a computer to connect it to a network.
