mobile card reader

a.k.a. mobile card processor

A technology that allows business owners to process credit and debit card payments on a mobile device such as an iPhone, iPad or Android. Companies like PayPal, Intuit, and Square offer an app and a card reader for on-the-go credit card payments.

The way it works is you either swipe, key, or take a photo of your customer’s credit card information (or process the transaction online), the customer signs for the charge using the app, then credit card charges are processed instantly and an email or text message is sent to your customer as a receipt.
