High Definition Television

A video system with a higher quality of color and clearer audio than existing TV standards. HDTVs have wider screens and twice the resolution. It needs as much as 19 Mbps of bandwidth to work. The images are digitized and compressed prior to transmission, and then decompressed at the receiver end. This new technology is commonly delivered via satellite and cable modems.
