cryptography or cryptographic




a.k.a. crypto

(pronounced: krip-tah-gruh-fee or krip-toe-grah-fik)

The science of coding messages so they cannot be read by anyone other than the intended recipient. Cryptography is the mathematics of security, and it includes encryption, authentication, and integrity. It is used in almost all d-commerce situations (such as cell phones) and is invisible to the end-user.
