AU or .au
A Unix sound file format. On the Net, you may come across the option to hear a sound clip. The file that is downloaded to your computer when "clicked on" might be in the AU format (if the sound file was originally captured on a Unix system or converted from another platform). Your helper applications or browser plugins need to be configured to know what to do with this type of file.
