active
A term that describes the objects currently displayed on your computer screen. For example, on a PC (personal computer), the active window is the one you are currently working in. In spreadsheet applications, the active cell is the highlighted cell in which data can be entered or modified. An active program is the program currently running. When you enter information, it usually applies only to the active document or Web page you happen to be viewing.
