ampersand

(pronounced: am-per-sand or the and sign)

The symbol most commonly used to mean "and." It is also used in HTML as one of the characters of the code that forces a blank space (which looks like  ). In computer programming, "&" represents a "logical and" and two ampersands are used in the programming language C.
